Day 08 – 30th May, 2012: Cholpon Ata, Kyrgyzstan

I exchanged $25-45 and gave US $150 to Bayastan as agreed earlier.  If I had come alone, it would has costed this much or above and then I could not see so much and meet people. At Bayastan’s house I was presented a beautiful Kirghi cap. I am still wearing it now.
Damira was driving and it was raining heavily. I was sleeping on the back seat. There was nothing to see in the night. At places, the road was bad. Damira was driving fast also. At 5.15 a.m. the day was breaking and we reached 280 kms to Issukul lake. All shops were closed.  We stopped at the place and walked towards the lake. This was beginning of the lake. I touched and tasted the water. It was slightly salty. Now Bayastan was driving here and there, trying to find some accommodation.  We stopped at another place where a lot of health Sanatorium rooms were there. Lots of trees, flowers made it an interesting place. Junes told me that National Sports players camp is here for training. Some old men and women were walking.  At 8.30 a.m. still no restaurant was opened. Damira and Bayastan bought bread and Salami and water bottle from a store. This place was Cholpan Atta. The rooms were made ready in half an hour. We waited at the Beach side. There was lake in front. Snowy mountains. A small bed with two chairs is on the sand near the lake.  It was enjoyable.  When the room was ready, I went to toilet, brushed my teeth and freshened up. The Kirghi Cap was warm for this cold weather. Then it was decided that lunch will be at 3.00 p.m. and we can sleep for some time. I wrote my diary for almost an hour and then went to sleep.

Got up at 2.00 p.m. and joined people for lunch. It was quite large. First a soup of Matar Dal with Potatoes and a piece of meat. This was followed by plate of mashed potatoes in three scoops, a round piece of meat over that one fried egg.  Bread was served along. Everything was tasty but I could not eat the whole thing. Soup itself was sufficient for me. Black Ten was also served. Now the Supper is at 8.00 p.m. We were planning to go out. But at 5.00 p.m. we walked to the other side.  There was a diving platform. Some children were bathing in the lake. Bayastan also dived and bathed. He is a good swimmer.  He walked back through the fence. Later in the evening, water in the lake was calm and still. There is good light for photograph and I could see people (workers) are playing and laughing and having good time at the lake side.

Dinner was served in the dining hall at 8.30 p.m. It was Pilao same like in Almaty but much less oil. The Pilao was prepared over wood fire which I saw in the evening and took pictures. Before the dinner we went to the market and Bayastan bought Bear bottles but did not drink as the dinner was already served. He came to the room where Junus and myself are staying. I drafted a letter on his behalf to Indian Embassy for meeting Indian Business Delegation coming to Bishkek on 10th or 11th June. I pushed off to sleep at 9.30 p.m. It was cold and I was wearing all my clothes.  Junus was outside talking and came back at 12’O clock midnight. I go up at that time to use the bath room.
